Surrounded by Creativity

This structure of recycled bottles was left at Auditorium Shores after the Austin’s New Year celebration on December 31. Trail of Lights 5K

Bill and I joined 8,000 participants at the Trail of Lights 5K last Saturday, one evening before the Zilker Park light display opened to the general public. This year’s race crowd was larger than usual. Gingerbread Village at the Four Seasons: 2012

“Austin Eclectic” is the theme of this year’s Gingerbread Village in the lobby of the Four Seasons Hotel. Proceeds from the sale of these works-of-art benefit the Seton Shivers Cancer Center at Brackenridge. This year’s display is much smaller than last year’s State of Texas landmarks, but for Austinites who love their city, admiring the local sites is more fun!

Holiday Sing-Along and Downtown Stroll: 2012

Unseasonably warm temperatures attracted a large crowd to Austin’s Holiday Sing-Along and Downtown Stroll on the first Saturday in December. As usual, local NPR host John Aielli led the Sing-Along from the steps of the Texas State Capitol. My friends and I managed to weave our way around the side of the building until we were right behind the stage. The songbook included all the traditional favorites, including crowd-pleasers, Feliz Navidad and Jingle Bells.
