I always have mixed feelings about the third and final day of ACL Fest. By Sunday, I’m tired of walking so much, standing during performances, trying to see around tall guys who block my view, dragging my camp chair around, waiting in long lines at the food court, being out in the sun and sitting through the rain. Oh, and also using porta-potties. But I am also sad to see the festival come to a close. ACL is a great opportunity to see a lot of famous and up-and-coming bands and performers.
Sunday afternoon was sunnier and therefore hotter than the previous two days. Storm clouds gathered around 6:30 but it never did rain downtown. Temperatures cooled off then, making for a very comfortable evening.
Here’s who we heard on Sunday, with performers listed under the photos:
Mariachi El Bronx
The Head and The Heart
The Walkmen
AWOL Nation
Broken Social Scene
Arcade Fire
Bill and I were surprisingly close to the stage for the final headliner, Arcade Fire. We had seen this Canadian band at The Backyard earlier in the summer and they basically performed the same show at ACL. These excellent musicians put a lot of energy into their show. A perfect closing to ACL Fest 2011!
