Bill and I celebrated this July 4th with a stay-cation: visiting with friends, listening to the Austin Symphony, and watching the fireworks over Lady Bird Lake.

Bill created this time-lapse video of the holiday, starting around noon and ending at sunset.

Here’s what the crowd at Auditorium Shores looked before the Symphony started playing at 8:30 PM. The First Street Bridge was closed as more spectators arrived to watch the fireworks an hour later.

We were disappointed that our view of this year’s fireworks was slightly obstructed by new construction. Next time we may need to watch from street level. But we still enjoyed the show, especially the finale!
