Keeping you updated on the latest changes in the world of Austin Food Trailers…
For the second time in a year, our favorite downtown trailer, Turf N Surf Po’ Boy, has moved to a new location. Last summer the trailer was forced to move to a parking lot on Third Street to make way for the new J W Marriott being built at Congress and Second.
The most-recent move was more drastic than the previous one. (No, they did not relocate to the nearby porta-potty as their moving sign suggested.) Now Turf N Surf has a brick-and-mortar storefront (literally) in the old Lavaca Street Grill location near Fourth Street. Bill and I can report that the Blackened Shrimp Po’ Boy and the Blackened Chicken Tacos are delicious as always.
In other Austin food trailer news, the iconic Hey Cupcake! trailer on South Congress has moved to a more permanent spot at the Elizabeth Street corner. Attracting customers has never been a problem, but now those cupcakes will be flying out of that trailer in this new high-traffic location right across the street from Home Slice Pizza. Cupcakes and pizza—what a combo!
Bill and I sampled the spring flavor, the John Lemon, strictly for blogging purposes, of course. We can report that cupcakes from the new location are also delicious.
