Sunday was a full day at ACL Fest Weekend 2. The weather was lovely, and Bill and I enjoyed almost every band that we saw. Our only disappointment was that we couldn’t hear Willie Nelson. An unusually large crowd prevented us from getting close to the stage, and then we were surrounded by groups of loud talkers. We finally moved on to another stage, which worked out OK since we subsequently discovered Miike Snow. (Not to worry…Willie lives outside of Austin, and we get to see him often.)
I need to mention a popular addition to this year’s festival: inflatable sofas. I’d never heard of these things before, but they seemed to be easier than dragging collapsable chairs around. Lots of festivalgoers were asleep in these sofas, so they must be comfortable, too.
Anyhow, here’s who we saw on Sunday…
Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats (plus an ASL interpreter)
Willie Nelson (from a far, far distance)
Here’s our summary of ACL Fest 2016…
Favorite Bands: LCD Soundsystem, Nathaniel Ratecliffe & The Night Sweats, The Wombats, Asleep at the Wheel, Miike Snow, Saint Motel, Bomba Estéreo, The Front Bottoms.
Happiness Contributors: Decent weather, reasonable food lines, Amy’s milk shakes, Micklethwait BBQ.
Complaints: A shortage of port-a-potties, noise bleed between the Miller Lite and Cirrus Logic stages, dead grass.
