SXSW: The Weird and the Cool

By now you all are probably sick of reading my entries about South by Southwest 2015. But I wanted to add one last post about some unusual things that I saw over the last ten days.

Seeking investment funding at the SXSW Interactive Tech Expo…

Seesaw: “subtle visual cues to monitor anything imaginable!”

Trickery: “any key, anywhere!”

Ring Zero: “allows you to control many things using gesture”

Using technology for social good at the Robot Petting Zoo…

EXO: “easily deployable, safest, smartest rapid response shelter system in the world”

Matternet One: “these smart drones…have been used to transport diagnostics, medicine and critical supplies across the world”

Next-generation guitars at the SXSW Music Gear Expo…

Fretboard Explorer’s Solene: “tubular body with slanted, meandering frets”

Bohemian Guitars: “salvages scrap metal, wooden necks, various guitar parts as well as oil cans, whenever possible, to supplement the need for raw products”

Ridgewing Guitars: “highly evolved acoustical structures, with the latest composite materials…fits in a briefcase”

Tronical (on a Ridgeway): “automatically tune a guitar in no-time-flat”

Out and about in downtown Austin…

Aerosol Warfare: a graffiti artist working inside a plexiglass cube in Republic Square Park
