Adiós, SXSW 2018. Overall, it was a good conference. The weather was nearly perfect. Free food was a little scarce, but food trucks were abundant. My Interactive highlight was seeing Bernie Sanders from the third row. I went to ten movies. My favorite was The Dawn Wall. Bill, the serious film fanatic, counted up 28 movies. Here’s what else I discovered this year…
The latest in Tech…
Solar-powered park bench
Yamaha: AI piano duets
Saya: “Communicate with emotion”
Lunavity: “A system for expanding the human capability to jump”
Magnetic Levitation Device: “Changing its shapes while you move a hand”
Kukara: “Electric Urban Mobility”
Meural: “Switch art pieces with a flick of the wrist.”
On the unusual side…
SoleMate Sox: “Never Lost Magnetic Socks”
Vinyl Recorder: “This machine is cutting a vinyl record!”
Sushi Teleportation
3D chocolate printing
Exploding Kittens: “A card game for people who are into kittens and explosions”
Viceland: “We have free stuff & baby goats”
