This month Bill and I attended the Voices for Justice concert at the ACL Moody Theater. The concert was part of a fundraising event for Proclaim Justice, a non-profit organization that focuses on freeing wrongly convicted inmates, especially those facing life in prison or the death penalty. This organization is based in Austin, but considers cases throughout the US.
Austinite Gary Clark Jr. was the main draw for this sold-out evening. Two weeks earlier he had won three Grammys—Best Rock Song, Best Rock Performance, and Best Contemporary Blues Album—for his song and album titled This Land. We often try to see him when he’s playing in Austin.
The Dixie Chicks also live in Central Texas and are supporters of Proclaim Justice. They came on stage for three songs, including Not Ready to Make Nice. The entire concert was only about 75 minutes, but with Gary Clark Jr. plus the Dixie Chicks, we’re not complaining.
