Last week I checked out the Downtown Street Market on Congress Avenue near 9th Street. This lunchtime event is sponsored by the Downtown Austin Alliance and is scheduled for every Friday through mid-November.

Friday was a beautiful day, and a respectable number of people were strolling around. Vendor tents were set up on the sidewalks. Eight food trucks were parked along Congress Avenue. A musician was playing in the courtyard of an office building.

I ended up eating at Planet Sub because the best food trucks had long lines. I can see where this market would be a nice lunch break for downtown workers, but don’t brave Friday traffic to get to this.
