All ages will enjoy visiting the Woodland Faerie Trail at the Zilker Botanical Garden. This shaded pathway features over 40 miniature habitats especially designed for those fanciful, but shy, creatures. The Trail can be visited now through August 10, during Zilker Garden’s regular hours from 9 AM to 6 PM. There are also two special “Moonlight” evenings on July 20 and 21.
The faerie displays were created by individuals, families, friends, and school groups. Participants were asked to highlight native materials and plants found in Texas. Their outdoor designs also needed to withstand our hot Austin summer temperatures and occasional thunderstorms.
One of my favorite designs was built by a friend. Her compact square called Sparkling Valley of Delight looked like a fun place for faeries of a smaller size. They would especially enjoy the minature maypole and swing. Even though it was outside for many weeks, her entry seemed to be holding up well.
Here’s some of my other favorite faerie habitats…
Faerie Wonderland
Underwater Magic at Fairy Cove
Woodland Faerie Preschool
Rainbow Magic
Waterstone Salon – Faeries Al Fresco
Ashley’s Fairy Pirates
Periwinkle Borough Market Square
El Fantasmico
