Fiesta! was the theme of the 2014 Capital of Texas QuiltFest. This show was sponsored by The Austin Area Quilt Guild and held last weekend at the Palmer Events Center. These first two quilts were on display at the entrance to the hall: the spectacular Raffle Quilt above (no, I did not win) and the Best of Show below.
Over the Edge – Joseph Stroman, Vicki Ibison
I don’t know much about quilting, but I love the bright colors and intricate patterns. Plus quilts are fun to photograph. Here’s a few of my favorites from this show—not necessarily the ones that won awards—but quilts that were colorful, unique, or just fun to look at!
Visions of Fairy Tales Danced in my Head – Margery O. Hedges (I heard this quilt was also expected to win the Viewer’s Choice award at the close of the show.)
Luv’n Texas – Mona Corbett, Judy Hipple, Martha Tsihlas
Gypsy Siam – Margaret Smith
Austin – Past and Present – Kathryn Griffin, BJ Cormier
Scoop It Up – Alice Peper, Sandi Hirsh
Illumination – Joseph Stroman, Glenna Iwami
Good Job, Lois – Quiltaholics Bee
Crazy About Lace – Holly Thompson
Dance of the Butterflies – Betty Dunn

Beautiful. So much work involved.
Wish they’d considered my travel schedule before deciding on the show dates! Glad you got to go!
As I said, I don’t know much about quilts, but I was very impressed with this show!
