Local NPR music station KUTX sponsored a live concert at the start of the second weekend of the ACL Music Festival. Several hundred people gathered on the back lawn of the downtown Four Seasons to hear four acts that were also playing at the festival. Each group played 30-minute sets. Admission was $10, which included coffee and a breakfast taco.
I joined Bill there just in time for Leopold and his Fiction. Although I missed the first two acts, I had seen one of those bands, El Tule, last Saturday at ACL Fest Weekend 1.
Shakey Graves and his band pounded out an energetic set, including my favorite song of his, Dearly Departed. He received a loud, standing ovation from the adoring hometown crowd…with one exception.
