Bill and I visited the 2nd Street Soundcheck on Saturday afternoon. This street fair was designed to entice customers to visit the 2nd Street District merchants and restaurants who, in turn, donated a percentage of their sales to the Austin Music Foundation and NPR music station, KUTX.
Three blocks of Second Street were closed to traffic. In spite of the hot weather, the event attracted a good-sized crowd. Buildings and trees provided a decent amount of shade while strolling among the vendor tents and food trucks.
Stages were erected on the east and west ends of 2nd Street. Bill and I watched performances by Sour Bridges and Walker Lukens & The Side Arms. And we heard all of the bands that played on the two stages, loud and clear, inside our apartment. That’s city life!
