Friday morning commuters couldn’t help but notice more cyclists pedaling around downtown Austin. Our local Bike to Work Day was organized by the Austin Cycling Association. Similar events are held in other cities around the nation during May.
Austin City Hall was one of several “hub” stations where cyclists could stop for free coffee and breakfast on their way to work. A fair-sized crowd had gathered when I visited the city hall plaza around 8 AM. Then, later in the day, other hubs offered free beer and snacks for the afternoon commute. Hopefully everyone arrived home safely that evening.
So you may be wondering if I too biked to work on Friday. Well, I did my bit for the environment with an alternate Walk the Ten Feet to the Home Office Day. Whew…it was exhausting!
