Coats for Kids: 2015
Thousands of Central Texas children received their winter coats through Coats for Kids last weekend. The Junior League of Austin organized this coat drive, one of the largest in the country. Over 32,000 coats were distributed in 2014, and even more were expected to be given away this year.
The Blizzard of 2014
Today, January 24, 2014, is a snow day in Austin. Schools, government offices, libraries, and some businesses are closed. Many people, including Bill, are working from home instead of going to their offices. The First Street Bridge was practically deserted at 8:45 AM when I took these photos. On most workday mornings, bridge traffic is still backed up with morning commuters at that time, but not today.

Today, February 4, 2011, is a rare snow day in Austin. What a cold week we’ve had…geez, I barely remember those 70-degree days from last week! The meteorologists said that this was the coldest weather for Austin in 20 years.
